her gallery and studio on her home on the island of Martha's Vineyard.

Description

Photographer Louisa Gould, who offers limited edition series of prints of her dramatic photography of sailing, sports and travel, has expanded her artistic offerings to include glass art, oils, wood furniture and ship models. She frequently hosts artists' receptions at her Martha's Vineyard gallery throughout the summer. In addition she works on location, shooting family portraits, weddings and promotional videos.

The Education of a World-Class Photographer

Photography by Lousia Gould can turn the walls of your home into a panorama of graceful sailing ships, quiet sunlit beaches or memorable portraits of your own family or wedding.

Based on the island of Martha’s Vineyard where her passion for art and photography began at an early age, Gould is an avid, world-class sailor who has happily merged her passion for sailing and photography into a successful business.

However, after majoring in Political Science and Chinese at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., she first followed a career in banking in New York City. While there she kept her creative instincts sharp by studying oil painting at Parsons School of Design and the Art Student League of New York.

On weekends Gould sailed on Long Island Sound which eventually lead her to leaving her career in finance to pursue a childhood dream of competing in the world’s most prestigious sailing event—the America’s Cup 2000 in New Zealand.

After her boat was eliminated, Gould picked up her camera and began capturing the event on film. Her knowledge of sailing combined with her photography skills enabled her to anticipate and capture key moments of the race.

Gould’s striking and memorable photographs (and the reactions they produced) convinced her to try a career as a sport and travel photographer. You can now find her at major sporting events in either in a helicopter, chase boat or on the sidelines.

Her extensive portfolio includes photography of the 2002 Olympic Games, 2003 America’s Cup and the 2003 Around Alone Race. Gould is also currently working on a classic yacht photography book of Vineyard Yachts and a sailing documentary of the 2001-2002 Volvo Ocean Race.

Gould’s gallery is located in Vineyard Haven, Martha’s Vineyard, MA, where she exhibits not only her own photography, but also a shows a rapidly expanding variety of artwork such as glass art, oils on canvas, ship models and wood furniture. In addition, Gould is available for shooting family portraits, weddings and promotional videos.
